Boston Bound Bonino
Team: Avon Old Farms
Scouting Report: BU recruit is an enigma with subpar skating but superb offensive tools .. seems to always find his way onto score sheets .. is downright dangerous in the offensive zone and makes his presence known with a lethal release .. is a scary winger on the power play when he sets up at the hash marks .. owns a potent selection of shots and an impressive willingness to fire at any time .. played on the power play with Cam Atkinson and Chris Wieland .. has undeniable instincts as puck seems to follow him .. shows quick hands and can process plays under pressure .. has deceptive speed with the puck on his stick as he changes speeds frequently on the attack .. shields the puck well .. lacks foot speed and therefore sometimes struggles to win battles and races to loose pucks, however he does compete hard .. not a liability in the defensive zone but must try harder than peers in order to offset substandard skating .. lumbering sniper will do fine at collegiate level as long as he shows improvement in speed, agility, and acceleration…will surely attract teams in the middle of the draft and is a potential steal down the road with proper development.
Draft Day Status/Projection: Bonino is a hard draft eligible to get a read on because teams may be turned off by his skating. DraftBuzz feels he could be selected as soon as late third round based on his offensive instincts and hands, but a more likely projection is anywhere from the 4th to the 6th round.
